June 27th will kick off
the weekend of activities to celebrate the
Damascus 200th Anniversary.
Garden tours, an Antique & Classic Auto show, and a 5K run
are just some of the activities the Bicentennial committee
has planned to commemorate this historic event.
Friday June 27th
activities begin at 10am with a
Quilt display
at the United Methodist Church along with the
Historical
Society Open House starting at
the same time. That night the Damascus Fire Department is
sponsoring a
Spaghetti Dinner
from 4-7pm at the Friends Church, followed by an
Hymn Sing/Community
Worship service from 7-8pm on
the front lawn of the Quaker Meeting House, near the center of
town. Later, for those who are not "faint of heart", a guided
walk in
the cemetery.
Copeland Oaks

Saturday, The Bicentennial
5K Run. It will begin at 8:30am with registration
starting at 7:30. Saturday is packed with events such as a
Flea
Market, Antique & Classic Auto Show,

and Ox Roast.
The main event for the day will be the
Grande Parade through the
streets of Damascus; kickoff is scheduled for 2pm. Included in
the parade will be a Heritage Float which will carry descendants
from founding families.
The final day of the Bicentennial festivities begins at 1
